CLAT 2026 Cut-offs Out: NLSIU Bengaluru Records Highest Ranks

The best law colleges in India still require very high scores for admission, with NLSIU Bengaluru being the hardest to get into after closing its first round at rank 101. The second list of college placements will be released on January 22 on the official website, consortiumofnlus.ac.in.

The Consortium of National Law Universities (NLUs) will hold five rounds to give out seats for bachelor's and master's law degrees in 2026.

According to the first list, admission for general category seats ended at rank 148 for NALSAR Hyderabad and rank 284 for WBNUJS Kolkata, following the top cutoff by NLSIU Bengaluru.

Candidates given a seat in the first round must pay a non-refundable fee by 1 pm on January 15 to keep their spot. For these candidates, the second list for all law degrees will be out on January 22.

After the results are out, candidates can choose from three options: freeze, float, or exit. Candidates happy with their assigned college can pick a ‘freeze’ to keep that seat. If candidates want to try for a better college on their list, they can pick a ‘float’ to wait for a higher choice.

Candidates who want to leave the process and stop trying for a seat must pick the exit option. For the applications, candidates had to list at least 15 college choices for bachelor's degrees and at least 5 for master's degrees.
