The placement season at IIT Bombay started strong, with over 45 companies visiting the campus on day one. A highlight was a Rs 2.2 crore offer from Da Vinci Derivatives for its Amsterdam office. In addition, prominent high-frequency trading firms and tech giants such as Flipkart, Apple, and Google made significant offers. The process was highly competitive, with pre-placement offers and multiple rounds of interviews taking place throughout the day.

The company reportedly extended offers to at least three students from IIT Bombay, although the final number of offers was not confirmed at the time of reporting. It is also unclear whether Da Vinci made offers for positions in Mumbai or how many students will be joining the Amsterdam office.

Hedge fund Jane Street extended pre-placement offers to IITB students, with its annual package last year being Rs 3.7 crore. IMC Trading also made a strong impression, visiting the campus with a Rs 1 crore package for roles in its Mumbai office and shortlisting 10 students.

Day one of the placements was dominated by high-frequency trading firms, with Graviton, Quadeye, and WorldQuant offering domestic roles with salary packages over ₹90 lakh. Quadeye also extended offers for international positions in its Hong Kong office. Notably, several top trading firms offered packages nearing or exceeding ₹1 crore. Additionally, technology leader NVIDIA was among the prominent recruiters on day one.

Top tech companies, including Flipkart, Apple, Ola, Microsoft, and Google, offered domestic job opportunities. Consulting giants McKinsey, Karni, and BCG, along with Blackstone, also participated in the recruitment drive.

A notable trend emerged as Tower Research and Optiver hired students through internships, offering competitive packages. Meanwhile, Qualcomm shortlisted 90 candidates, the largest pool, for further interviews by Sunday evening.

The final placement numbers and offer details are expected to be revealed as the process unfolds, with the day's activities extending almost two hours past midnight.

The day was filled with entrance tests and multiple rounds of interviews for top companies like Sony Japan, Pine Bridge, Qualcomm, Ola, Shell, GE Aerospace, GE Vernova, Texas Instruments, Alvarez and Marsal, Honda R&D, ANZ, Procter & Gamble, and Kearney, all of which visited the campus during the first phase of Day One.

In the second half of Sunday, the Powai campus hosted companies including Flipkart, Meesho, NEC, DE Shaw, BlackRock, Ola, Tata Steel, Arpwood Capital, YCP Auctus, Accenture, Abacus AI, Wells Fargo, Quantbox, Baring Equity, Oracle, and TSMC.
