The Indian Institute of Science (IISc) is a public, deemed university for higher education and research in Science, Engineering, Design and Management, located in Bangalore, Karnataka. Established in 1909 and is locally known as the &ldquo;Tata Institute&rdquo;. IISc Bangalore is recognised by the UGC (University Grants Commission) and accredited by NAAC (National Assessment and Accreditation Council) with &lsquo;A&rsquo; Grade. Ranked at 1st position in the university category and 2nd in the overall category as per NIRF rankings 2023. As per the QS World University Rankings 2023, IISc Bangalore is ranked at the 155th position.
Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore: Highlights
IISc Bangalore offers undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral courses. Admission to the courses is based on national/state-level entrance examinations. Candidates must fulfil the IISc Bangalore admission criteria to be eligible for the courses. The IISc Bangalore has a dedicated placement cell known as the Office of Career and Counselling and Placement (OCCAP) which conducts the final placement drive. The placement cell invites companies for the IISc Bangalore placement drive and organises training sessions, pre-placement talks and grooming sessions for students. Students participate in the campus session's final placement. The Indian Institute of Science placement cell conducts seminars, workshops and many other activities for the students to enhance their skills and build confidence amongst them. The placement cell acts as a mediator between the students and recruiters. Candidates can also avail IISc Bangalore scholarships under certain criteria. It has a campus size of 440 acres with a student and faculty count of 3854 and 446 respectively.
