Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad was established in 1961. IIM Ahmedabad is ranked 1st by the NIRF in 2025 for Management and has been ranked 1st for many years. IIM Ahmedabad Admission 2026

Admission to IIM Ahmedabad is entirely entrance-based and accepts exams such as CAT, GMAT, GRE, GATE, and UGC-NET/JRF for courses such as MBA, MBA-FABM, MBA-PGPX, MBA-BPGP, ePGD-MBA, PhD, FDP, and AFP. Each of these programmes has different admission requirements, and here are the details given below:

Students applying for the flagship PGP must appear in the CAT exam and have to get an eligible score.
Candidates who meet the CAT cutoff score and have filled out the application form for IIM Ahmedabad will be shortlisted for a Personal Interview, which includes Group Discussion (GT) and Written Test Ability (WAT) on the basis of the CAT score.
Candidates who appear for the Personal Interview will be considered for admission, where the Final Score will be calculated, and the admission letter will be sent to candidates based on their Final Score.
Final Selection or merit list is based on the overall score obtained in CAT, PI & academic profile, work experience, and gender diversity.

Interested students need to submit their personal documents like 10th, 12th /Diploma, and graduation, semester-wise/year-wise mark sheets of Bachelor’s degree, etc., and copies of work experience certificates (if applicable).
Certificate of disability (if applicable), Scheduled Caste / Scheduled Tribe / Other Backward Class – Non-Creamy Layer certificate, EWS certificate (if applicable).

Application Process

To apply to IIM Ahmedabad, candidates must complete the online application by filling in the required information.

Required Documents: Marksheets of Class 10th, 12th, and Bachelor's degree. Caste Certificate (if applicable), Disability certificate for PwD category students, Work experience letter (if applicable), Bonafide Certificate for candidates currently in their Graduation final year, and Bachelor's degree certificate or provisional degree certificate (as applicable).

IIM Ahmedabad Eligibility 2026

IIM Ahmedabad admission is based on different parameters for its courses, and admission to these courses is entrance-based. The CAT cutoff is used to select eligible candidates for all courses. The CAT 2025 score is used as a reference for 2026 selection.

Possess a completed professional qualification such as CA/CS/ICWA (CMA) or FIAI. Working Professionals or Entrepreneurs with a minimum of 3 years of full-time work experience after graduation, with a minimum age of 24 years.
ePGD-MBA	Candidates should hold a bachelor’s degree in any discipline with a minimum of 50% marks or an equivalent CGPA. 5% relaxation for the reserved category. A minimum of two years of relevant work experience is required, preferably in business analytics or data analysis. A valid score in (CAT/GATE/GMAT/GRE or the ePGD-ABA qualifying-cum-aptitude test)
PhD	Candidates should hold a bachelor’s and Master’s degree in any discipline with a minimum of 55% marks or an equivalent CGPA. 5% relaxation for the reserved category. Possess a completed professional qualification such as CA/CS/ICWA (CMA) or FIAI.
FDP	Holds a PhD degree or thesis submitted or will be submitted before the programme starts. Has University or Higher Education Institution Level teaching experience in management. Participants below 45 will be preferred.

The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Ahmedabad aims to recognise exceptional qualifiers of the CAT examination based on their previous academic performance, as well as their CAT scores from a variety of academic backgrounds. Subject to meeting specific criteria, a predetermined number of the best applicants from each academic discipline are shortlisted for AWT (Analytical Writing Test) and PI (Personal Interview) based on their composite score, or ‘CS.’

The top 5% in each academic category (i.e., AC-1 to AC-5), which is limited to the corresponding categories, including SC, ST, NC-OBC, PwD, and General, among the applicants to IIMA who appear for CAT-2025. They will be shortlisted for the AWT and PI based on their composite score ‘cs’, subject to their fulfilling criteria C1-C3.
