National Institute of Technology, Calicut which is popularly known as NIT Calicut was formerly called Regional Engineering College Calicut. It is a public funded institute of higher learning for <a href="https://www.jagranjosh.com/exams/engineering">engineering exam</a>, science and technology. It was established in 1961 in Kozhikode, Calicut, India. NIT Calicut is approved by UGC (University Grants Commission), accredited by AICTE (All India Council for Technical Education) and ranked 23 in the NIRF 2023 list under the <a href="https://www.jagranjosh.com/colleges/engineering">engineering college</a> category.
National Institute of Technology, Calicut: Highlights
NIT Calicut has been granted the status of &lsquo;Institution of National Importance&rsquo; by the Ministry of Education (MOE), Government of India. It offers admission to UG, PG and Doctorate programmes. Admission to the programmes is conducted through national/state-level entrance examinations. Candidates are required to appear for the respective entrance examination to fulfil the NIT Calicut selection criteria to be eligible for admission. The NIT Calicut has a placement committee that offers students job opportunities on campus. Every year, the placement committee organises a placement drive to assist its students in obtaining job offers from reputed companies. The placement committee trains students through various activities such as group discussions, guest lectures, mock interviews, seminars, and so on. The placement committee develops strong relationships with reputable organisations and ensures that students are placed appropriately. The institute offers a campus size of 284.37 acres with a student and faculty count of 5812 and 210 respectively.
