National Institute of Technology Silchar, which is also known as NIT Silchar or NITS, is a public technical university. It is a <a href="https://www.jagranjosh.com/colleges/engineering">top engineering college in India</a> that was founded in 1967 and established in Silchar, Assam, India. It has been recognised as an &lsquo;Institute of National Importance&rsquo; by the Ministry of Education, Government of India and is one of the 31 National Institutes of Technology in India. It is ranked at 40th position in the engineering category and 83rd in the overall category as per NIRF rankings 2023.&nbsp;

NIT Silchar offers Undergraduate, Postgraduate and Doctorate programmes. Admission to the programmes is made through national/state-level <a href="https://www.jagranjosh.com/exams">engineering exam</a>. Candidates are required to appear for the respective entrance examination to fulfill the NIT Silchar selection criteria to be eligible for admission in this <a href="https://www.jagranjosh.com/colleges">top college of India</a>. The training and placement cell works towards the overall development of students. It is also a prestigious <a href="https://www.jagranjosh.com/colleges/mtech">M.Tech college in India</a>&nbsp;which offers several M.Tech programmes. It operates under the supervision of the training and placement officer and mainly works as a coordinator between the institute and organisations. NIT Silchar is located in 540 acres of land with a student and faculty count of 3809 and 194 respectively.
