The  Himachal Pradesh Technical University (HPTU) was founded in 2010 by an Act of the Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly to promote social welfare and value creation via technical education, training, research, innovation, entrepreneurship, and continuing education initiatives.   

Through public and private involvement, the university offers both short-term and long-term programs that lead to advanced diplomas and degrees.For admission to a number of undergraduate and graduate programs, the Himachal Pradesh Technical University administers the Himachal Pradesh Common Entrance Test (HPCET). 

Through the Himachal Pradesh Common Entrance Test (HPCET), admission is offered to subjects like Bachelor of Pharmacy, MCA, MBA, Bachelor of Science, Master of Science, etc. Admissions to these courses are made based on the marks or scores obtained in the HPCET exam.

Eligibility Criteria for Admission through HPCET

The Himachal Pradesh Common Entrance Test (HPCET) is conducted by the Himachal Pradesh Technical University. This exam offers admission to students in various courses like the Bachelor of Pharmacy course, Bachelor of Architecture, MBA, etc. To be able to seek admission to these courses, the candidate has to qualify a minimum of level of eligibility criteria prescribed by the official authorities.

Below is the list of eligibility criteria as provided by the official authorities to be able to seek admission based on the scores of HPCET:-

  • A candidate must have passed class 12th in subjects like Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology, History, etc., from a recognised board.
  • A candidate who belongs to the unreserved category must have at least secured 45% marks in class 12th in relevant subjects from a recognised board.
  • A candidate belonging to the reserved category must have at least secured 40% marks in class 12th in relevant subjects from a recognised board.
  • The minimum age required to be able to appear in the HPCET examination is at least 17 years of age.
