Which Courses are Most Popular in MHT CET Counselling?

In 2025, in the  MHT CET exam, out of the total registrations exceeding 8.94 lakhs across various streams, approximately 282,734 candidates appeared for the PCB group of MHT CET 2025, and 422,863 students appeared for the PCM group of the MHT CET 2025. The number of candidates who appeared might vary, but the Maharashtra Health and Technical Common Entrance Test (MHT CET)  has consistently drawn hundreds and thousands of candidates for pharmacy, engineering, and other professional courses.

Popular courses in MHT CET Counselling

Some of the consistently popular fields in the MHT CET counselling are as follows:-

  • Mechanical Engineering

  • Computer Science Engineering (CSE)

Eligibility Criteria for Admission to MHT CET Technical Education Courses:-

The MHT CET 2026 registrations are underway for the academic year 2026-27 from January 10, 2026, to February 12, 2026. The State Common Entrance Test Cell has also prescribed the eligibility criteria for admission to the various courses offered. 

Given below is the eligibility criteria for seeking admission to the undergraduate MHT CET technical education:-

Eligibility Criteria

Engineering or Technology programs

  • A candidate should be a citizen of India

  • A candidate should have qualified the Class 12th from a recognised institution with compulsory subjects like Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry, and Biology.

  • A candidate belonging to the reserved category, economically weaker sections, and a person with disability should have at least obtained 40% marks.  

  • A candidate belonging to the unreserved category should have obtained 45% marks.

  • Or, a candidate must have completed a minimum of three years engineering and technology diploma program. And the candidates belonging to the reserved category, EWS, or PWD, should have at least obtained 45 %.

Pharmacy Program

  • A candidate should be a citizen of India.

  • A candidate should have qualified from class 12th from a recognised institution with compulsory subjects like English, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, or Biology. 

  • Or, a candidate should have any other certification recognised by the Indian Pharmacy Council.

Bachelor of Planning

  • A candidate should be a citizen of India.

  • A candidate should have qualified for Class 12th from a recognised institution with subjects like Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Computer Science, Information Technology, or Technical Vocational Subjects as optional subjects.

  • A candidate belonging to the unreserved category should have at least obtained 45% marks, and the candidates belonging to the reserved category, EWS, or PWD should have at least secured 40% marks.

The Maharashtra Health and Technical Common Entrance Test  (MHT CET) Counselling 2026 will be more about tech-focused streams such as CSE, AI and Data Science, while traditional streams and pharmacy might stay stable but less competitive.
