Guru Nanak Dev University Amritsar, which is popularly known as GNDU Amritsar, Punjab, is a government university, established by the State Legislature Act No. 21 of 1969. It is the only university with 1st category in the states of Punjab, Chandigarh and Himachal Pradesh. Accredited by NAAC with ‘A++’ grade and conferred as “University with potential for excellence” status by UGC, it has been ranked at 44th position in the university category and 80th in the overall category as per the NIRF rankings 2022.
