The Indian Institute of Management Jammu is conducting a trekking-based Management Development Program (MDP) for young leaders from the Northern Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) from January 20th to 23rd.

The MDP led by IIM Jammu is designed to enhance leadership skills through experiential learning, including trekking and other activities in the lower Himalayas. The programme consists of seven carefully curated sessions focused on promoting both personal and professional development, according to the institute.

Anuja Akhouri, Programme Chair of IIM Jammu, delivered the welcome address. In her remarks, she outlined the program's objectives and emphasised its alignment with NTPC's leadership vision.

Emphasising the significance of the ongoing programme, BS Sahay, director of IIM Jammu, urged participants to use the programme as an opportunity to gain transformative insights that will benefit both individuals and their organisations, while also contributing to nation-building.

The inauguration began with a traditional lamp-lighting ceremony conducted by the director, as stated by the institute.

IIM Jammu: MDP includes field-based activities

The programme features field-based experiential learning activities, including trekking in the lower Himalayas, focused on empowering leadership, team building, sustainability, and good governance. It also covers conflict resolution, negotiation skills, intrapreneurship, strategic thinking, leadership communication, and digital transformation.

Further discussing the programme, Sahay highlighted the importance of lifelong learning, self-reliance, and continuous growth. He encouraged participants to seek opportunities for both academic and professional development. Additionally, he emphasised the value of pursuing higher education, affirming that such learning is always valuable.

As per the official press release, Pratik Maheshwari, co-chairperson of Executive Education and Consultancy at IIM Jammu, highlighted the innovative use of trekking as a tool for leadership development.
