Indian Institute of Technology (BHU) is a public technical university located in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh. The university was established in 1919, as the Banaras Engineering College, it became the Institute of Technology, Banaras Hindu University in 1968. IIT BHU is recognised by AICTE (All India Council for Technical Education) and UGC (University Grants Commission). It is ranked at 13th position in the Engineering category and 29th in the overall ranking as per NIRF 2022.
