National Institute of Technology Karnataka, which is also known as NITK Surathkal, is a public technical university. It was founded in 1960 and formerly known as KREC Karnataka Regional Engineering College. It is established at Surathkal, Mangalore, Karnataka, India. It is one of the 31 National Institutes of Technology in India and has been recognised as an &lsquo;Institute of National Importance&rsquo; by the Govt. of India. It is ranked 12th in the NIRF 2023 Ranking list under the Engineering category.

NIT Surathkal offers undergraduate, postgraduate and doctorate programmes. Admission to the programmes is based on various national/state-level entrance examinations. Candidates are required to register for the respective entrance examinations to fulfill the NIT Surathkal selection criteria to be eligible for admission. The institute provides a large number of placement opportunites to students. The placement drive is conducted for the students who are in their undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in the final year. The certification drive would be organised by the Career Development Centre (CDC) of the institute. The placement team of the institute trains and guides the students for the NITK Surathkal Placements. Various companies and organisations are invited by the NITK Surathkal and the entire process of placements is conducted. The institute has a campus size of 296.00 acres with a student and faculty count of 5712 and 275 respectively.
