The Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs) are autonomous institutions specialising in technical education, with a focus on Information Technology and Communication Studies. IIITs have gained significant popularity among students and are regarded as some of the top colleges, following the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) and National Institutes of Technology (NITs). There are 26 IIITs in India, five of which are recognised as Institutes of National Importance, while the remaining 21 follow the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model. To gain admission to IIITs, candidates must qualify for JEE Mains and participate in the JoSAA counseling process.

Although all IIITs are autonomous, they are connected through a common admission process. Admission to undergraduate engineering programs at IIITs is based on the JEE Mains exam. Since the National Testing Agency (NTA) took over in 2018, the exam is conducted twice a year, in January and April, for admission to various IITs, NITs, IIITs, and CFTIs.
In addition to undergraduate engineering programs, the institutes also offer M.Tech, MBA, PhD, and dual degree programs in the IT and communication engineering fields. Below is a list of other entrance exams required for admission to various courses offered at IIITs.
