<h2>The Genesis and Growth of MAEER's MIT Group</h2>
Driven by a vision to provide quality education and foster societal change, Rev. Prof. Dr. Vishwanath D. Karad established a group of institutions that would eventually become the MAEER's MIT Group. This initiative, much like MIT ADT University, aimed to bolster higher education in Maharashtra and equip students to meet global demands.
The journey began in the early 1980s when a dedicated group of academics and social thinkers formed the Maharashtra Academy of Engineering Educational and Research (MAEER) trust. On May 1, 1983, MAEER opened the first private engineering college in Pune, known as MIT.
<h2>From Humble Beginnings to an Educational Giant</h2>
What started with a handful of students and two classrooms in 1983 rapidly blossomed. The MIT Group quickly earned a reputation as a leading name in higher education, spanning engineering, science and technology, medicine, and various other fields. By 2015, the MIT Group had expanded significantly, boasting over ten campuses across Maharashtra, thousands of acres of land, more than 70,000 students, and over 84 institutions. This remarkable growth transformed the MIT Group into a vast and influential force in higher education.
<h2>Profile of the University</h2>
In 2016, the MIT Educational Group made history by opening its first institution on the stunning Vishwaraj Baug campus in Loni Kalbhor. This significant location was acquired in 2001 and previously belonged to the esteemed late Indian actor, Shri Raj Kapoorji.
Through persistent effort, Rev. Prof. Dr. Vishwanath Karad was able to fulfill his vision of creating a university that champions innovation and high-quality education, all while being deeply rooted in the principles of peace and development. As a result, the Government of Maharashtra officially established MIT-ADT University in 2016 through the MIT Art, Design and Technology University Act, 2015 (Mah. Act. No. XXXIX of 2015). The university began its operations in the academic year 2016-17.
MIT Art, Design and Technology University, Pune, received official recognition from the University Grants Commission (UGC), New Delhi, via letter No. F-8-33/2015 (CPP-1/PU) on November 10, 2016. This recognition empowers the university to award degrees as outlined in Section 22 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956.
MIT ADT University received approval from the Maharashtra state Government, as published in the Gazette on August 21, 2015. The university's campus is located in Loni Kalbhor, Pune, spanning 85 acres along the banks of the Mula-Mutha river. It is a lush green campus equipped with state-of-the-art facilities.
With 17 constituent Schools, MIT-ADT University offers a wide array of intensive undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programs. These span diverse fields including Engineering, Fine Arts, Design, Management, Marine Engineering, Bioscience Engineering, Food Technology, Film and Theatre, Drama, Music, Broadcasting and Journalism, Humanities, Holistic Development, and Education.
The university's student body is continuously expanding, currently boasting over 12,000 enrolled students.
