Presidency College is a public, autonomous college for arts, commerce and science, located in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. It was established by the Britishers in 1840 as the Madras Preparatory School and then got converted into a high school and later into a college. It is one of the oldest government arts colleges in India. It is ranked at 3rd position in the college category as per NIRF rankings 2023.
