Presidency College is a public, autonomous college for arts, commerce and science, located in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. It was established by the Britishers in 1840 as the Madras Preparatory School and then got converted into a high school and later into a college. It is one of the oldest government arts colleges in India. It is ranked at 3rd position in the college category as per NIRF rankings 2023.
Presidency College, Chennai: Highlights
PC Chennai offers undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral courses. Admission to the courses is based on merit secured by the candidates in their last qualifying examination. For admission to the MCA course, candidates have to appear for the TANCET examination. Candidates must fulfil the Presidency College, Chennai admission criteria to be eligible for the courses. Presidency College Placement Cell aims to provide a platform to the students so that they can excel their skills. The Placement Cell conducts all the recruitment-related activities from inviting companies to the placement drive to training all eligible students participating in the placement process. Students from both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels got trained by the professors of the college and many industrialists were also invited to deliver industry insights. Presidency College, Chennai also offers scholarships to meritorious and needy students.It has a campus size of 35 acres with a student and faculty count of 4889 and 211 respectively.
