The 2025 RHSU Edu-Scholar Public Influence Rankings have been released, with Stanford University taking the top spot by placing seven scholars in the top 20. Compiled annually by Rick Hess, Director of Education Policy Studies at the American Enterprise Institute, these rankings highlight scholars who have had a significant impact on public debates and education reform. According to Education Week, the rankings offer important insight into the key voices influencing education policy, with Stanford’s faculty standing out for their influence.

The top positions in the 2025 rankings are held by prominent figures in the education field. Carol Dweck, the Stanford psychologist best known for her work on "mindset," takes the number one spot. Close behind is Howard Gardner, a Harvard professor renowned for his theory of multiple intelligences, followed by Angela Duckworth, a leading Stanford scholar recognized for her research on grit.

Renowned scholars like Raj Chetty from Harvard, whose economic research on educational opportunity has significantly influenced public policy, and Linda Darling-Hammond from Stanford, a leading voice in educational equity and teacher preparation, are key figures in the ongoing discourse on improving K-12 education in the United States.

Stanford’s Strong Presence in the Rankings

Stanford University's dominance is clear in this year's rankings, with seven scholars among the top 20, surpassing any other institution, as reported by Education Week. This significant achievement underscores the university's leading position in education research. While Harvard University also achieved high rankings with three scholars in the top 20, other prominent institutions, such as the University of Southern California and the University of Pennsylvania, also secured notable positions.
