CTET Syllabus 2026
The CTET exam consists of two papers- Paper 1 and Paper 2. The syllabus for Paper 1 is divided into 5 sections and the syllabus for Paper 2 is divided into 4 sections. The paper-wise syllabus has been outlined here.
CTET Paper 1 Syllabus 2026
The CTET Paper 1 syllabus includes five sections- CDP, Language-I, Language-II, Maths & Science, and Environmental Science. The CTET Paper 1 is conducted for the candidates who want to become primary school teachers and teach classes 1 to 5. Candidates can check the description of these sections here:

Child Development & Pedagogy: This section covers the basic learning of how children grow, learn, and behave, combined with teaching approaches designed according to developmental readiness.
Language-I: The questions in Language I will focus on the proficiencies related to the medium of instruction.
Language-II: The questions in Language II will focus on the elements of language, communication and comprehension abilities.
Mathematics & Environmental Studies: The questions in Mathematics and Environmental Studies will focus on the concepts, problem solving abilities and pedagogical understanding and applications of the subjects.

The CTET Paper 2 syllabus 2026 consists of 4 sections- CDP, Language-I &II, Maths & Science OR Social Studies. The candidates have to choose between Maths & Science OR Social Studies. The syllabus description is provided here.

CDP: The questions on Child Development and Pedagogy will focus on educational psychology of teaching and learning, relevant to the age group of 11-14 years. They will focus on understanding the characteristics, needs and psychology of diverse learners, interaction with learners and the attributes and qualities of a good facilitator of learning.

Language-I & II: The questions in Language I will focus on the proficiencies related to the medium of instruction. The Test items in Language II will focus on the elements of language, communication and comprehension abilities. Language II will be a language other than Language I.

Maths Science OR Social Studies: The questions in Mathematics and Science, and Social Studies/Social Science will focus on the concepts, problem solving abilities and pedagogical understanding and applications of the subjects. The test items of Mathematics and Science will be of 30 marks each.

CTET Exam Pattern 2026
The CTET exam consists of two papers and the exam pattern is similar for both the papers except, in Paper 2, the candidates have to choose either Maths & Science OR Social Studies as their optional subject.
