Introduction of Micro-Presentation in the Selection Process

MBA/PGPM 2025 Admissions Process

To be eligible for admission to our 9 IBS campuses for the February 2025 intake, follow these two steps: Micro -Presentation and Personal Interview.

Each candidate will participate in a 5-7 minute interview, during which a panel will evaluate their: attitude, knowledge, communication skills, goals, critical thinking, and leadership potential.

The Micro-Presentation component assesses a candidate's ability to:

  • Communicate ideas effectively
  • Present thoughts clearly and concisely
  • Think spontaneously and respond promptly
  • Organize and articulate their thoughts under time pressure

Micro-Presentation Overview

Process:

  1. Candidates choose a number between 1 and 100
  2. Each number corresponds to a pre-assigned topic
  3. Upon selecting a number, the candidate receives their designated topic
  4. Preparation Time: 1 minute
  5. Presentation Time: 3 minutes

Flexibility:

  1. If a candidate finds the first topic challenging, they can opt for a second topic by selecting another number between 1 and 100.
  2. Candidates may select one of the two topics, but no further options will be provided.
  3. The topics are randomised with each selection, so even if a later candidate picks the same number, they will be allotted a different topic.

Key Features of the Micro-Presentation

  • The Micro-Presentation is a solo exercise. Only the presenter will speak. There will be no interaction or Q&A.
  • Each candidate presents to a group of 9-11 peers and 2 panelists.

Evaluation Parameters

The Selection Panel will assess candidates based on:

    • Deliver information clearly and concisely within the 3-minute time.
    • Think quickly and organise thoughts effectively.
    • Demonstrate the following qualities:
      • Communication skills
      • Relevance to the topic
      • Logical reasoning
      • Confidence
      • Body language

Guidance for Candidates

Candidates may be advised to:

  1. Use your prep time wisely: Jot down key points or create a brief outline
  2. Focus on the essentials: Clearly present the most important information
  3. Pace yourself: Speak at a steady pace to stay within the 3- minute time
  4. Project confidence: Maintain a confident demeanor and positive body language

The new selection process offers a more comprehensive evaluation of key skills, ensuring a fair and consistent assessment for all candidates.
