Introduction of Micro-Presentation in the Selection Process

The MBA/PGPM 2025 selection process at 9 IBS campuses includes a Micro-Presentation (25 marks) and a Personal Interview (25 marks).

Each candidate will have a 5-7 minute interview to assess attitude, general knowledge, thought clarity, aspirations, communication, and leadership potential.

The Micro-Presentation evaluates communication, presentation skills, quick thinking, and thought organization.

Micro-Presentation Overview

Process:

  1. Candidates will be required to choose a number between 1 and 100, each corresponding to a predetermined topic.
  2. After selecting a number, the candidate will be assigned a topic that matches their chosen number.
  3. Candidates will be allotted 1 minute for preparation, followed by a 3-minute presentation.

Flexibility:

  • If a candidate finds the initial topic difficult, they have the option to choose another number between 1 and 100 to receive a second topic.
  • Candidates can select one of the two topics, and no additional options will be provided beyond this point.
  • The topic selection process is fully randomised. This means that even if two candidates choose the same number, they'll each receive a unique topic.

Key Features of the Micro-Presentation

  • The Micro-Presentation is an individual task, distinct from a Group Discussion. Only the presenting candidate will speak, and there will be no interaction or discussion among the participants. No questions will be asked of the candidates during or after the presentation.
  • Each candidate presents to 9-11 peers and 2 panel members.

Evaluation Parameters

The Selection Panel will evaluate candidates based on their ability to:

  • Rapid thinking and effective thought organisation
  • Clear and concise communication within the 3-minute time frame
  • Showcase the following key qualities:Communication skills
  • Logical reasoning
  • Relevance to the topic
  • Body language
  • Confidence

Guidance for Candidates

Candidates may be advised to:

  • During the 1-minute preparation, jot down key points or create a brief outline to structure your thoughts and stay focused.
  • Focus on delivering the most crucial and relevant information in a straightforward and concise style.
  • Practice speaking at a steady pace to stay within 3 minutes.
  • Maintain confidence, clarity of expression, and appropriate body language throughout the presentation.

This revised format aims to provide a more comprehensive evaluation of essential skills, maintaining a fair, consistent, and reliable selection process.
