Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology (IIEST), Shibpur

Candidates aiming to enroll for the upcoming academic year at IIEST Shibpur for major courses in undergraduate, postgraduate and PhD programs, should follow these admission criterias: 

1. Undergraduate: To pursue programs like B.Tech/BS/B.Arch, students have to complete their Class 12th with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics, holding a minimum of 75% aggregate (65% for SC/ST/PwD). They also have to score highest in JEE Main exam to secure admission in the courses.

• Candidates need to register for JoSAA (Joint Seat Allocation Authority) and fill in their choices as per preference.
• Seat allotment will be done only through your All India Rank (AIR) and category.
• As per the allocation you need to appear for the last process for admission and fee payment. 

2. Postgraduate: For postgraduate courses like M.Tech, students need to have a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field. IIEST Shibpur uses CCMT (Centralized Counselling) process. It follows a system similar to JoSAA where multiple colleges are listed in one application. Candidates might also have to appear for the interview process to secure a seat.

3. Doctoral (Ph.D.): Application for PhD course is done through direct institute portals. Intake mostly happens twice a year, Autumn and Spring.  For B.Tech graduates from an IIT/NIT/IIEST with a CGPA 8.0 may receive exemption from the GATE requirement for Ph.D. admissions at these institutes.

IIEST usually offers two major scholarships offered by central scholarship scheme and alumni scholarships. Check for the details below:

1. Merit-cum-Means (MCM) Scholarship: This scholarship is offered by institutes to General, OBC-NCL, and EWS students. It provides concession in tuition fee and includes a monthly stipend of ₹1,000. To be eligible for the benefits candidates must have a family income limit of ₹4.5 Lakhs and is based on the candidate's academic performance.

2. GAABESU Alumni Scholarships: This is offered by the Global Alumni Association (GAABESU) which includes scholarships like Alumni Scholarships, Awards for Excellence (AFE), and Research Awards. These are offered through an official ceremony conducted by official the body only. 

To be eligible for Undergraduate, Postgraduate and PhD programs offered at IIEST Shibpur for the upcoming academic year, candidates must have: 

1. Undergraduate (B.Tech/B.Arch): Candidates should have completed their Class 12 with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics, with a minimum of 75% aggregate (65% for SC/ST/PwD). To secure a seat candidates also must have a valid JEE Main rank.

2. Postgraduate: For master’s programs like M.Tech and M.Sc. candidates should have completed their Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, while holding at least 60% marks or a 6.5 CGPA (55% or 6.0 for SC/ST/PwD). Primary selection is based on a valid GATE score (for M.Tech) or IIT JAM score (for M.Sc), which is then followed by counseling.

3. Doctoral (Ph.D.): To pursue PhD in engineering, technology and science field, one must have completed their Master’s degree in the relevant field, holding a minimum of 60% marks. They also have a valid GATE, NET, or JRF qualification.
