The University Grants Commission (UGC) has delisted Pragyan International University from its list of recognised universities, following the state government's declaration that the institution is non-existent.
The commission stated that the university, located in Ranchi, Jharkhand, was established by the state government. As a result, its name was added to the UGC's list of recognised universities.
The commission explained that after the university was added to the UGC list, it was supposed to submit information for inspection. However, the university did not provide the required details. As a result, the UGC reached out to the Jharkhand government to confirm the university's status.
"The university failed to respond to communication from the University Grants Commission (UGC) via telephone and email. Consequently, the UGC, through a letter dated June 19, 2024, requested the Government of Jharkhand to provide an update on the university's status."
