IIT placements 2026: IIT Bombay and IIT Delhi continue to be India's top locations for high-value hiring in the tough 2025–2026 placement cycle. IIT Bombay has historically been the "topper" in terms of average CTC (Cost to Company), with an average package often falling between ₹32–36 LPA for its B.Tech cohorts.

However, this might change depending on the volume of high-value overseas offers. According to preliminary reports, international offers to IIT Bombay in the current 2026 cycle have already peaked at about ₹1.48 Crore (offered by Da Vinci Derivatives), while the average for top-tier branches such as Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) and Electrical Engineering frequently approaches the ₹40 LPA mark.

By December 2025, IIT Delhi's Phase 1 placements for 2026 had recorded over 1,275 offers, a 33% increase in Pre-Placement Offers (PPOs) over the previous year. While IIT Delhi maintains a policy of not disclosing high-value individual packages to alleviate student pressure, its average package throughout B.Tech branches are still strong, usually with LPA between ₹28 and ₹34.

Both universities have profited from an increase in demand this year in the fields of artificial intelligence, quantitative finance, and high-frequency trading (HFT), where proprietary trading firms are offering profitable domestic packages that reach ₹60–80 LPA.

Comparative Placement (2025-26 Cycle)

For candidates, the difference between "Average" and "Median" is still a crucial indicator. The median package, which often ranges from ₹18 to ₹24 LPA at these elite institutions, offers a more reasonable expectation for the majority of the graduating class, even though the average is driven upward by multimillion-rupee international earnings.
