IIM Sambalpur and Raipur Latest Updates

IIM Raipur and IIM Sambalpur have withdrawn from the Common Admission Process (CAP) for the 2025 MBA batch. Consequently, both institutions will independently manage their admissions procedures for the upcoming academic year.

The CAP, a centralised system facilitating admissions for numerous newer IIMs, typically streamlines seat allocation based on CAT scores. By withdrawing from this process, IIM Raipur and IIM Sambalpur will gain complete autonomy in shortlisting, interviewing, and ultimately selecting candidates for their MBA programs.

IIMs Exit CAP for MBA 2025

IIM Sambalpur officially confirmed its decision in a statement, highlighting its aim to tailor the admission process to better align with the institute's specific needs and goals. The institute intends to adopt a holistic approach to candidate selection, considering factors like academic background, work experience, and personal interviews.

IIM Raipur has also released a statement emphasising the advantages of this change. The institute believes that conducting its own admission process will help attract candidates who are more in line with its academic and professional goals. Both IIMs seek to improve the quality and relevance of their incoming MBA cohorts through this independent approach.

  • The Common Admission Process (CAP) usually encompasses multiple Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs), including IIM Trichy, IIM Kashipur, and IIM Udaipur. However, with IIM Raipur and IIM Sambalpur opting out, the CAP will have fewer participating institutes, which may lead to a structural overhaul for the next year.
  • Candidates seeking admission to IIM Raipur and IIM Sambalpur for the 2025 batch are advised to closely follow the unique guidelines provided by each institution.
  • The shortlisting and selection criteria, which will be based on CAT scores, academic performance, and other factors, will be announced separately by each institute.
  • Following the initial screening, shortlisted students will receive an email notification by January 10, after which they must register on the portal by January 25.

Aspiring students are encouraged to regularly check for updates from IIM Raipur and IIM Sambalpur to ensure they are informed about the application process, key deadlines, and any additional requirements.
