National Institute of Technology (NIT), Jamshedpur

NIT Jamshedpur offers admission to UG, PG and Doctorate programmes. Admission to the programmes is made through engineering entrance exam such as JEE Main/DASA UG/GATE followed by the counselling session and personal interview. Candidates must appear for the respective entrance examination to fulfil the NIT Jamshedpur selection criteria to be eligible for admission. Check details here:

1. B.Tech Admission 

• Students must achieve a valid rank in JEE Main 2026.
• Registration on the JoSAA portal is required. Candidates specify their preferred branches (CSE, ECE, etc.) and colleges.
• Seats are assigned based on All India Rank (AIR), category (SC/ST/OBC/EWS), and quota (Home State vs. Other State).

2. M.Tech & M.Sc Admissions 

• Candidates must hold a valid GATE (M.Tech) or IIT JAM (M.Sc) score.
• Students register using the CCMT (Centralized Counseling for M.Tech) or CCMN portals.
• Seats are allocated based on the GATE/JAM score, academic background, and availability of seats in the selected specialization.

3. PhD Admissions

• Admission to PhD programs are managed directly by the institute.
• Selected candidates based on GATE/NET scores or Master’s marks, they must appear for a Screening Test followed by a Personal Interview at the campus.

Step-by-step application process:

1. Candidates have to appear for the national/state-level entrance examination as per the desired course.
2. Selected candidates will be then called for a personal interview and counselling round.
3. Final admission is done after the verification of documents and payment of fees.

1. To enroll for undergraduate courses like B.Tech programs, candidates should have qualified certain eligibility like: 

• Should have completed 12th with one mandatory subject from Physics and Mathematics along with Chemistry/Biotechnology/Biology. 
• Should have acquired a minimum of 75% marks is required for General/OBC-NCL/EWS candidates (65% for SC/ST/PwD).

2. For Undergraduate and postgraduate courses candidates must have a valid qualifying score in national level entrance examination including JEE Main for B.Tech, GATE for M.Tech, NIMCET for MCA, and IIT JAM for M.Sc. 

• Selection for each candidate for both the programs is strictly based on the merit list and rankings acquired in these exams. 

• No age limit for JEE Main 2026 but the latest education is stretched to the minimum of three years.
