National Institute of Technology, Srinagar which is popularly known as NIT Srinagar was formerly called Regional Engineering College Srinagar. It is a publicly funded autonomous technical institute under the Ministry of Education, Govt. of India. NIT Srinager is a top engineering college that was established in 1960 in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir, India. It is ranked 82 in the NIRF 2023 list under the engineering exam category and is one of the 31 NITs of India. NIT Srinagar was granted the status of ‘Institute of National Importance’ in 2003 by the Ministry of Education (MOE), Government of India.

NIT Srinagar Admission 2025
NIT, Srinagar offers course admissions at the UG, PG and Doctorate levels. The candidates must qualify the JEE Main for admission to B.Tech college courses, while for M.Tech college courses, candidates must secure eligible marks in the GATE exam. For admission to M.Sc courses, the candidates must secure qualifying marks in the JAM examination. NIT Srinagar accepts CAT and CMAT scores for admission to top MBA college courses. Admission to the PhD course is based on an entrance examination conducted by the NIT Srinagar and obtain passing marks in the same for pursuing doctorate degree courses.
Step-by-step application process:
- Candidates have to appear for the national/state-level entrance examination as per the desired course.
- Selected candidates will be then called for a personal interview and counselling round.
- Final admission is done after the verification of documents and payment of fees.
