National Institute of Technology, Patna which is popularly known as NIT Patna was formerly called Bihar College of Engineering, is a publicly funded institute of higher learning for engineering, science and technology. It an engineering college that was established in 1886 in Patna, Bihar, India. It is the 6th Oldest Engineering Institute of India. NIT Patna has been declared as an ‘Institute of National Importance’ and has been granted an Autonomous Status by the Ministry of Education (MOE), Government of India. It is ranked 56 in the NIRF 2023 List under the B.Tech college category.

NIT Patna Admission 2025

NIT Patna offers admission based on the marks scored in the entrance examination. To get admission into NIT Patna programmes, candidates must appear for the entrance examination as per the desired programme such as JEE Main. For NIT Patna undergraduate admission, such as B.Arch, B.Tech and B.Tech-M.Tech (Integrated), candidates have to appear for JEE Mains entrance examination. For postgraduate programmes such as M.Tech and M.Plan, candidates have to appear for the GATE entrance examination and for Ph.D programmes, candidates have to appear for a written examination and personal interview.

Step-by-step application process:

  1. Candidates have to appear for the national/state-level entrance examination as per the desired course.
  2. Selected candidates will be then called for a personal interview and counselling round.
  3. Final admission is done after the verification of documents and payment of fees.
