IIM Ahmedabad Admission 2026

IIM Ahmedabad offers courses at postgraduate and doctorate levels. Admission to the institute is primarily based on entrance examinations like GMAT, GRE, CAT or GATE as per the respective course. The final admission is done on the basis of Analytical Writing Test (AWT) and Personal Interview (PI) from the candidates who have a valid CAT score. Candidates are required to register for CAT entrance examination and fulfill the IIM Ahmedabad admission criteria to be eligible for admission.

Step-by-step application process:

Candidates are required to register for the respective entrance examination, i.e, CAT 2025, as per the desired course.
Selected candidates will then be called for a personal interview and counselling round, which includes Group Discussion (GD) and Written Ability Test (WAT).
Final admission is done after the verification of documents and payment of fees.

The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Ahmedabad aims to recognise exceptional qualifiers of the CAT examination based on their previous academic performance, as well as their CAT scores from a variety of academic backgrounds. Subject to meeting specific criteria, a predetermined number of the best applicants from each academic discipline are shortlisted for AWT (Analytical Writing Test) and PI (Personal Interview) based on their composite score, or ‘CS.’

The top 5% in each academic category (i.e., AC-1 to AC-5), which is limited to the corresponding categories, including SC, ST, NC-OBC, PwD, and General, among the applicants to IIMA who appear for CAT-2025. They will be shortlisted for the AWT and PI based on their composite score ‘cs’, subject to their fulfilling criteria C1-C3.

Criteria C1-C3:-

C-1:- The minimal cutoffs shown in Table 1 cannot be exceeded by PVARC, PDILR, PQA, or PT.

C2:- P≥ minimum cutoffs (unique to the stream and category as indicated in Table 7), where P is the average of the percentages of marks received in exams for grade 10 and 12.
