GFTI or Government-Funded Technical Institutions, are top-tier higher education institutions in India. These include universities, as well as engineering and architecture colleges, all supported by the Government of India. GFTIs offer postgraduate programs like M.Tech and MBA, along with doctoral degrees in various specialisations. Admission to these courses is typically based on national and state-level entrance exams such as GATE, CAT, and others. Some notable GFTIs in the country include the University of Hyderabad, Assam University, and Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra, Ranchi. Most GFTIs in India also provide undergraduate and postgraduate degree programs in fields such as science, humanities, and arts.

List of GFTI colleges in India that accept JEE Main scores

India has a total of 32 GFTIs, which follow academic and admission procedures similar to those of NITs and IIITs. The Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) oversees the admission process for all GFTI colleges. Prior to 2016, admissions to GFTIs were based on students' ranks in the Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) Main. Currently, GFTI colleges under JEE Main offer a total of 6,078 seats for B.Tech and B.Arch courses.
