National Institute of Technology (NIT), Calicut

NIT Calicut admissions are offered at undergraduate, postgraduate and doctorate levels. The programmes are offered in Engineering and Architecture, Animation and Design, Computer Application and IT, Sciences, Management and Business Administration streams in regular mode. The B.Tech college admission is offered based on the marks scored in JEE Main. Candidates have to qualify GATE examination for M.Tech college/ M.Plan admissions at NIT Calicut. Admission to M.Sc programmes is done through a counselling process based on the Joint Admission Test. Admission to the M.C.A programme is done based on the results of the All-India NIT M.C.A Common Entrance Test (NIMCET). For admission to the NIT Calicut PhD programme, the candidate should have a master’s degree along with the scores of the entrance examination. Candidates are required to meet the NIT Calicut selection criteria in order to be eligible for admission at the institute.

Step-by-step application process:

1. Candidates have to appear for the national/state-level entrance examination as per the desired course.
2. Selected candidates will be then called for a personal interview and counselling round.
3. Final admission is done after the verification of documents and payment of fees.

To enroll in UG, PG and PhD courses offered by NIT Calicut, for this academic year, candidates need to have these eligibilities: 

1. Undergraduate Programs: Admission to Bachelor’s courses like B.Tech/B.Arch candidates should have completed their Class 12 with Physics and Mathematics (plus Chemistry/Biology/Biotechnology for B.Tech). They have secured at least 75% marks (65% for SC/ST/PwD). While high marks are essential, admission will strictly be done through the All India Rank (AIR) acquired in JEE Main.

2. Postgraduate Programs: To get admission in PG courses like M.Tech/M.Sc/MB, candidates should have a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline with a minimum of 60% marks or 6.5 CGPA (55% or 6.0 CGPA for SC/ST/PwD). For M.Tech courses, admission is done through GATE (CCMT counseling),and for M.Sc one has to appear for IIT JAM (CCMN counseling). For MBA program candidates need to acquire a valid CAT score, which will then be followed by an interview.

3. Doctoral (Ph.D.): For admission to different PhD programs in engineering and other disciplines, applicants must have a Master’s degree in Engineering/Technology/Science/Management with at least 60% marks or 6.5 CGPA. Along with a mandatory GATE/NET/JRF score.
