Bihar Education News: Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary has outlined major initiatives in the education and energy sectors, highlighting the state government's efforts to expand digital learning and provide competitive exam preparation to students within the state.
Addressing the ‘Bihar Ke Sachche Nayak – Real Heroes of Bihar’ programme, Choudhary said the government has established 700 model schools, where around 3.5 lakh students are studying. These schools have been equipped with facilities for online education and live classes.

JEE, NEET Preparation Through Model Schools
The Chief Minister said the initiative aims to provide students with access to preparation for major competitive examinations such as the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) and National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) within Bihar.
He noted that many students travel to Kota, Rajasthan, for preparation for these examinations. The government therefore decided to provide similar preparation facilities to students through model schools in Bihar.
According to Choudhary, the programme currently covers about 3.5 lakh students across the 700 model schools.
Vidyarthi Sathi App Supports Late-Night Learning
Choudhary also highlighted the Vidyarthi Sathi App, which provides students with access to teachers and online learning support. He said more than 1.42 lakh students were using the platform for online learning even at around 1 am, indicating the government's focus on making learning support available beyond regular classroom hours.
Bihar Government's Energy Focus
The Chief Minister also spoke about the state's electricity and energy-related initiatives. He said around 1.7 crore families had not received an electricity bill for a year, while around 22 lakh families were currently receiving electricity bills.
He also highlighted the state's expenditure of approximately Rs 6,000 crore on agricultural feeders in rural areas. Choudhary said the government was looking at connecting the electricity system with solar power and reducing dependence on subsidies.
What This Means for Students
The expansion of model schools and digital learning facilities could give Bihar students greater access to competitive examination preparation without having to travel outside the state. The government's stated focus on live classes, online teacher support and JEE-NEET preparation is aimed at strengthening academic opportunities for students through state-run institutions.
