Delhi University: The faculty of Motilal Nehru College, Delhi University, has initiated an indefinite protest against their work since there was an occurrence of physical assault and verbal harassment within the campus owing to the current DUSU (Delhi University Students' Union) elections. This protest resulted after the people supporting the candidates and those who are not even students forcibly entered the premises of the college, intimidated, threatened, and beat up the teachers who tried to maintain discipline among others.
The staff association has expressed its great disappointment about the complete absence of campus security because the unrestricted political meetings and loud campaigning have made it unsafe for both teachers and students. Some of the demands have been put forward by the faculty which include lodging of an FIR against the culprits, rigorous implementation of verification at the entrance gates and imposition of severe punishment on the part of the Delhi University election officer for all those candidates flouting the Lyngdoh Committee guidelines. Due to the strike, no lecture, practical exam, and administrative proceedings are taking place in the college.

Core Reasons Behind the Indefinite Strike
Assault on Teachers During the Protest: The reason for the protest was that campaigners broke into the campus and assaulted teachers, who were trying to maintain order within the campus as well as uphold the conduct code of elections.
Security Problems and Intrusion of Outsiders: The teachers expressed their deep worry about the lack of security in the campus during the campaigning period as many non-student and political campaigners were conducting very loud demonstrations inside the academic blocks.
Boycott by Teachers: As a result of the boycott conducted by the teachers, there has been complete suspension of lectures, laboratory classes, and internal assessment process at Motilal Nehru College.
