Artificial intelligence training is increasingly shifting from basic prompt-based learning to building and deploying practical AI systems. In line with this trend, the Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad has introduced an Applied AI Professional Certification Programme aimed at professionals looking to strengthen their skills in developing production-ready AI applications.
The four-week programme is scheduled to run from September 19 to October 17, 2026. It will follow a hybrid format, allowing participants to attend instructor-led sessions either at the IIT Hyderabad campus or online. The institute has structured the programme around a combination of classroom teaching, guided assignments, mentoring and project development.
Production-Style AI Agent Application For Learners
Rather than limiting the course to theoretical concepts, IIT Hyderabad said participants will work on a production-style AI agent application throughout the programme. The institute’s stated approach is centred on learning a concept, applying it and then incorporating it into a working project.
The curriculum covers several areas relevant to modern AI engineering, including AI agents, tool use, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), memory, orchestration and multi-agent systems. Participants will also be introduced to evaluation, observability, guardrails and deployment practices.
The programme is designed for software engineers, data scientists, full-stack developers, AI engineers, solution architects and AI enthusiasts who already have basic technical knowledge. IIT Hyderabad lists Python fundamentals, familiarity with REST APIs and an understanding of large language models and generative AI among the expected prerequisites.
Participants will receive guided practical assignments and mentor support between the instructor-led sessions. The course will also include code reviews and project demonstrations, with the final stage focused on presenting the completed AI application and receiving feedback.
LangChain, LangGraph, Qdrant, LangFuse Among Key Concepts
According to the programme details, the September cohort will include more than 40 hours of learning and project-building activities. The course also introduces participants to technologies and frameworks such as LangChain, LangGraph, Qdrant, LangFuse and Model Context Protocol.
The programme will conclude with project demonstrations and presentations on October 17. Participants who fulfil the prescribed assessment and project requirements will receive a Professional Certificate from IIT Hyderabad.
The course is being conducted by faculty and industry professionals, including Dr Praveen Tammana, Dr Ashish Mishra and Dr Anupam Sanghi from IIT Hyderabad’s Department of Computer Science and Engineering, along with AI Solution Architect N V S S Koundinya.
For the September cohort, the programme website lists an early-bird fee of Rs 45,000 for the first 20 participants and a standard fee of Rs 50,000, with taxes charged separately.
