The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) is conducting the NEET UG 2026 counselling process for admission to undergraduate medical and dental courses across participating institutions. The Round 2 counselling is particularly important for candidates seeking MBBS and BDS seats through the centralised counselling process, with allotments being made based on candidates’ NEET UG rank, choices submitted during counselling, category and seat availability.

However, candidates waiting for the NEET UG 2026 Round 2 final seat allotment result should note that the allotment information currently available is provisional. The provisional Round 2 seat allotment result has been released, while candidates should check the MCC portal for the latest status of the final allotment. The provisional result allows candidates to check the seat that has been allotted to them before the allotment is formally confirmed. The final allottment is most likely to be released today, September 12, 2026.

NEET UG 2026 Round 2 Seat Allotment: What Candidates Should Know

The Round 2 counselling process covered 15% All India Quota (AIQ) seats as well as 100% seats in deemed universities, central universities and institutions including AIIMS, JIPMER and AFMC, as applicable under the MCC counselling framework. MCC is responsible for conducting online counselling for 15% AIQ undergraduate seats, among other categories. 

For Round 2, registration and payment began on September 3, 2026, while the registration window closed on September 8. Candidates were allowed to submit and lock their choices until September 9. The seat allotment processing was conducted on September 9 and 10, with the result scheduled around September 11. 

MCC has also released updated vacancy information for the round, covering MBBS, BDS and BSc Nursing seats. The vacancy information includes newly added seats, clear vacancies and virtual vacancies, giving candidates a better indication of the seats available during the counselling process.

Candidates who participated in Round 2 can check their allotment status by following these steps:

1. Visit the official MCC website at mcc.nic.in.

2. Open the UG Medical section from the homepage.

3. Click on the link related to NEET UG Counselling 2026.

4. Look for the Round 2 seat allotment result or provisional allotment result link.

5. Log in using the required credentials, wherever prompted.

6. Check the allotted course and college mentioned in the result.

7. Download the allotment result and save a copy for future reference.

Candidates should carefully check the allotted college, course, category and other details mentioned in the allotment result. The MCC website is the official source for counselling-related notices, schedules and allotment updates.

NEET UG Counselling 2026 Round 2 Reporting Dates

Candidates who receive a seat in Round 2 must complete the required admission and reporting formalities within the prescribed timeline. According to the counselling schedule, candidates allotted seats in Round 2 are required to report to their respective institutions between September 12 and September 18, 2026. The participating institutions are scheduled to verify the details of joined candidates on September 19.

The academic session for undergraduate medical courses is scheduled to begin on September 15, 2026. Therefore, candidates who receive an allotment should not wait until the last date to complete the admission process. 

Candidates should also remember that merely checking the provisional allotment does not by itself complete the admission process. Those satisfied with their allotted seat should follow MCC’s instructions regarding reporting, document verification and admission at the allotted institution.
