MP School Education News: Madhya Pradesh has achieved a zero per cent dropout rate at the primary education level in 2025-26, according to the state government. The School Education Department said the dropout rate has declined significantly over the past two decades, from 15 per cent in 2002-03 to zero per cent in 2025-26.
Primary School Dropout Rate Reaches Zero
The achievement was announced by Madhya Pradesh Minister Chetanya Kasyap through a post shared by the state's School Education Department. According to the department, the primary-level dropout rate stood at 15 per cent in 2002-03. It has now reached zero per cent in 2025-26.
The development indicates a significant change in school retention at the primary level, with the state government highlighting various initiatives aimed at keeping children connected with education.

Dropout Rate Also Declines at Secondary Level
The improvement has also been reported at the secondary level. According to figures reported by the state government, the secondary-level dropout rate declined from 24.70 per cent in 2002-03 to 6.2 per cent in 2025-26.
The government has attributed the improvement to measures aimed at increasing access to schools, providing financial support to students and encouraging children to continue their education.
Scholarships, Cycles and Digital Education Among Initiatives
Several student-focused schemes have been implemented over the years to support school attendance and retention. These include scholarships and assistance such as bicycles, scooters and laptops, along with efforts to strengthen digital education.
The initiatives are aimed at reducing barriers that can prevent students from continuing their education, particularly those related to access, transportation and financial support.
CM Mohan Yadav Had Earlier Highlighted Zero Dropout
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav had also highlighted the decline in primary school dropouts earlier this year during the School Chalein Hum Abhiyan. He said the dropout rate in primary schools had fallen to zero over the preceding three years.
The state government has also highlighted its implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP) across school and higher education as part of its broader education reform.
