Stakeholders are expecting significant reforms and more funding for the education sector due to mounting calls for greater investment in research, skill development, digital learning, and higher education.
Union Budget 2025: Key Announcement for Education Sector
- 50,000 Atal Tinkering Labs will be set up in schools to encourage curiosity and scientific thinking among students.
- The Bharatiya Bhasha Pustak scheme will be introduced to help students learn subjects in their native languages.
- Broadband connectivity will be provided to all government secondary schools.
- The capacity of IITs will be expanded, with student enrollment doubling in 23 IITs over the past 10 years.
- Additional infrastructure will be developed in five IITs (established after 2014) to accommodate 6,500 more students.
- A Centre of Excellence in Artificial Intelligence will be set up with an investment of ₹100 crore.
- To expand medical education in India, 100% more seats have been added in UG and PG medical courses.
- The government plans to add 75,000 more medical seats over the next five years and 10,000 more seats by next year.
- Five National Centres of Excellence for Skilling will be established in collaboration with global experts and partners.
