NEET 2026 Rank Predictor: Predict Your Rank Based on Your Marks
The National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) UG Exam is one of India's biggest entrance exams. The NEET exam is used to shortlist eligible candidates for medical programmes such as MBBS, BDS, and BSc Nursing.
The time right after the NEET UG exam can be extremely stressful, as applicants can calculate their estimated marks using the NTA NEET answer key, but the ultimate question remains: "Which medical college will I get with this rank?"
The Jagran Josh NEET UG Rank Predictor is developed utilising advanced algorithms and historical counselling data to remove the uncertainty and assist applicants in strategically planning for their medical college. This tool provides an estimated rank based on the scores of the students, which can then help students create an accurate, customised list of government and private medical colleges that you are eligible for by evaluating the opening and closing ranks from previous years from both the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) and state-level counselling organisations.

What is NEET UG Counselling Quotas: AIQ vs. State Quota
A common point of confusion for medical aspirants is the division of seats. The medical college admission is divided into two major quotas, such as the All India Quota and the State Quota. Candidates can check the details below
All India Quota (AIQ - 15%)
The exam will be conducted by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on behalf of the MCC. The AIQ accounts for 15% of the total seats in all government medical and dental colleges across India.
- These seats are open to any student from anywhere in the country who meets the requirements for the NEET UG.
- Additionally, 100% of seats at deemed universities, central universities (such as AMU and BHU), AFMC, ESIC, and all AIIMS & JIPMER institutions are covered by this quota.
- Because top scorers nationwide compete for these esteemed positions, AIQ cutoffs are typically higher than state cutoffs.
State Quota (85%)
The remaining 85% of seats in state government colleges, along with seats in private medical colleges within the state, are filled by the respective state counselling authorities (e.g., DMER in Maharashtra, KEA in Karnataka).
- A current domicile certificate for the state in which they are applying is required. Every state has its own unique requirements for domicile, which usually refer to the student having resided or attended school there for a certain period of time
- As they will only be competing with students from their native state, candidates' chances of getting a government medical seat through their state quota are statistically significantly greater.
Key Factors Affecting the Opening and Closing Ranks
The exact rank required to enter a specific college fluctuates every year. The Jagran Josh algorithm updates dynamically based on these variables:
- Although the percentile criteria remain the same, a more difficult exam typically results in lower cutoff marks.
- Every year, more than 20 lakh students take the NEET exam, which marginally raises the rankings due to greater competition.
- Students get an advantage when new government medical schools are established or when the enrolment capacity of already existing institutions is increased, as this directly reduces the closing ranks.

Why Trust the Jagran Josh NEET Predictor?
With dozens of tools available online, why should students rely on Jagran Josh for their rank predictions?
The Jagran Josh Predictor is based on official NTA and MCC round-wise counselling data from the previous three years, ensuring that predictions are accurate rather than merely approximations.
The tool eliminates "noise" and only ranks the range that the student actually gets after the specific marks.
Weeks before the official website opens, our predictor helps students in creating a realistic "choice filling" list, providing them a significant advantage over peers who are not well-prepared.
What to do After Checking Your Predicted NEET Ranks?
Getting a rank is only the first step. The real work begins during the counselling phase. Here is how a student should navigate the post-result phase:
Don't just look at the brand name. Research the fee structure (especially for Deemed and Private universities), hospital patient inflow, rural service bond conditions, and hostel facilities of the colleges on the student predicted list.
Rigorous verification will be done in state and national counselling. Canddites must prepare multiple attested copies of the NEET admit card, rank card, Class 10/12 mark sheets, category certificates (make sure they are in the central government format if you are applying for AIQ), and proof of domicile.
Round 1, Round 2, the Mop-Up Round, and the Stray Vacancy Round were the stages of MCC counselling. Candidates can select a "Free Exit" or "Upgrade" in Round 2 if they don't receive their desired college in Round 1.
FAQs
- Is the NEET Rank Predictor 100% accurate? The Jagran Josh prediction offers a probability rather than a definite guarantee; it is based on high-quality historical data and algorithms. Every year, cutoffs may change in response to new seat additions and student achievement.
- How is the All India Rank (AIR) calculated if two students get the same marks? The NTA has a tie-breaking procedure in place when there is a tie. Higher grades in Biology (Botany & Zoology) are prioritised, followed by Chemistry and Physics. The candidate with fewer wrong answers overall is placed higher if there is still a tie.
- What are the chances of getting BDS if I don't qualify for MBBS?Compared to MBBS, the BDS (Dental) cutoff is far lower. If you're 40–50 marks short of an MBBS seat, you have a decent chance of getting a top-tier private MBBS seat or a government BDS seat if you can afford the cost structure
