The UPSC Civil Services Exam is considered as one of the most difficult exam to crack in the country. Every year, about 11 lakh candidates apply for the Civil Services Exam. In the Prelims Exam, about 5.5 lakh candidates appear and in the Mains Exam, the number of the candidates dwindles and finally about 600 candidates are selected after the Interview is over. Many candidates, after so much of hard work, returns empty handed. However, if things remain well and good, then this scenario may change.
The UPSC has sent its recommendation to the Central Government and its related Ministries to recruit from the candidates who reach the UPSC Interview but fail to clear it. The candidates who reach the Interview stage are, no doubt, the ones who have gone through the tremendous amount of study. Mere non qualification in the Interview does not mean that they are not suitable for other exams.
The UPSC Chairman Arvind Saxena has proposed to the Central Government and its related ministries to recruit from the list of candidates who make it to the Interview but fail to get the final selection. The government can consider recruiting from the list of candidates who went through the tough selection process and failed at the last stage. If this suggestion is approved then this will help in reducing the exam stress among the candidates substantially.
This recommendation is truly candidate-friendly. There will be less stress on the candidates who put many years of study to become an Administrative Officer and just cannot make through the last stage. The UPSC Chairman further added when a candidate applies for the exam a registration number will be generated for the application. The candidates will be given an option to step down and there will not be any problem. All this will be done purely on voluntary basis. There will be no compulsion at all.
The Central Government is trying hard to make all the exams in the country candidate friendly. Seeing the large number of the candidates applying for the Government Exam every year, it has become almost inevitable. This recommendation, if approved, will prove to be a milestone. The meritorious candidates will get another chance to get the jobs in the Government sector. This will also help in sorting out the problem of skilled and employable manpower in the country. Hope this recommendation gets the nod from the Government.
