In a major relief for thousands of protesting civil service aspirants across Maharashtra, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has accepted all the primary demands raised by the Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) candidates. Following a high-level committee meeting at his official residence, Varsha, the government announced a comprehensive Special Investigation Team (SIT) inquiry into the alleged paper leaks and evaluation malpractices, alongside placing a temporary hold on upcoming candidate interviews.

To restore faith in the state civil service recruitment, the Maharashtra state government has given out immediate time-bound actions:-

Preliminary Crime Branch report to be made public, investigation handed over for back-tracing.

Independent Grievance Mechanism

Setting up a dedicated Grievance Redressal Cell headed by a retired judge.

Comprehensive System Overhaul

Appointed an expert committee under senior bureaucrat V.Radha to suggest systemic reforms.

MPSC Answer Sheet Rechecking & Reform Committee

The decisions address widespread concerns surrounding descriptive paper marking and technical leaks through online messaging apps:-

  • The Special Investigation Team will probe back-linkages of paper leak rackets, social media communication channels (such as Telegram groups), and the involvement of middlemen across previous administrative tenures.
  • The government has also recommended that MPSC receive digital or physical copies of answer sheets under the Right to Information (RTI) Act to boost scoring transparency.
  • The newly appointed V.Radha Committee will conduct the statewide consultations with candidates, parents, and educators to design a modern, cheat-proof examination model across MPSC and state police recruitments.
