Key Factors Influencing NEET UG Round 3 Cutoff 2026

Here are the major factors influencing the NEET UG Round 3 opening and closing ranks.

1. Number of candidates- In Tamil Nadu, every year the number of students who register for the counselling process to get admission based on their NEET scores runs into tens of thousands.

2. Seats Quota and Reservation- Admissions in Tamil Nadu follow the 69% reservation policy unique to the state and allocated for various categories such as BC, BCM, MBC/DNC, SC, SCA, ST; there is even an additional quota of 7.5% for students from government social welfare schools.

3. The difficulty of the papers- The NEET national exam paper difficulty regulates the score trends; tougher the paper, lower the cutoffs and easier the papers, the more competition for different categories.

4. Number of seats available- Tamil Nadu has thousands of medical seats (more than 8000 MBBS courses offered) and shares those between the public schools and the private colleges of the state.
