COMEDK UGET 2026: A total of 16,855 engineering seats remained vacant across Karnataka after Round 4 of the COMEDK UGET 2026 counselling process, according to the latest vacancy data released by the Consortium of Medical, Engineering and Dental Colleges of Karnataka (COMEDK). The vacancy figures cover engineering courses offered by participating colleges across the state.
The high number of vacant seats is notable because Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), one of the most preferred branches among engineering aspirants, accounts for the largest share of the remaining vacancies.
COMEDK UGET 2026 Course-Wise Vacant Seats
According to the Round 4 vacancy data, CSE has the highest number of vacant seats, followed by Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) and Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (AI/ML).

CSE Has Over 4,400 Vacant Seats
The CSE vacancy figure is particularly significant as the branch continues to be one of the most sought-after engineering programmes. The latest data shows 4,411 CSE seats vacant across the participating institutions.
The vacancy is spread across 147 college-course entries. While some colleges have only a few vacant CSE seats, several institutions have more than 70 vacant seats in the branch.

Among individual CSE programmes listed in the vacancy data, Bapuji Institute of Engineering and Technology, Davangere, has the highest number of vacant CSE seats at 121.

Bengaluru Has Largest Concentration of Vacant Engineering Seats
Bengaluru has the largest concentration of vacant engineering seats in the latest COMEDK data, reflecting the large number of participating engineering institutions located in and around the city.
However, vacancies are not limited to Bengaluru. Engineering colleges in Mangaluru, Belagavi, Tumakuru, Mysuru and other Karnataka districts also have vacant seats.
Vacancies Reported Across Several Engineering Branches
The vacant seats are spread across both traditional and newer engineering programmes. Apart from CSE, ECE and AI/ML, vacancies have also been reported in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Information Science, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Data Science and Cybersecurity, among other branches.
At some colleges, multiple branches have recorded substantial vacancies simultaneously. For instance, Ballari Institute of Technology and Management has sizable vacancies in AI/ML, CSE and ECE.
