Delhi University Students’ Union (DUSU) elections are underway today, with Delhi BJP President Harsh Malhotra expressing confidence in an ABVP win on all four central panel posts. The Delhi BJP President and Union Minister of State Harsh Malhotra has predicted that the RSS-linked Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) will win all four key posts - President, Vice-President, Secretary and Joint Secretary. On the other hand, Delhi Education Minister Ashish Sood visited Rajdhani College and extended his support to ABVP.

The Delhi BJP president said the ABVP’s “guiding philosophy is ‘Nation First’ - the belief that everything must be done in service of the nation - and ABVP operates on this core conviction,” and that the organisation is “rooted in nationalist ideology, dedicated entirely to student welfare.”

He further expressed confidence that ABVP will win all four key posts.

“Today, as the DUSU elections take place, Vidyarthi Parishad holds significant influence across Delhi. I firmly believe that this time as well, the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad will emerge victorious on all four central panel seats,” Malhotra said.

Delhi Education Minister Ashish Sood visited Rajdhani College and extended his support to the ABVP’s 7-3-3-3 team as voting was underway.

“It was encouraging to witness the energy and spirit of participation among our young students,” Sood said.

DUSU 2026 Elections: HC Bans Victory Processions

The DUSU election campaign saw the use of Rolls-Royce cars, tractors and several cars without number plates. On this, the High Court today resumed hearing the ongoing plea and questioned the DCP over alleged cavalcades of vehicles without number plates in North Campus, saying: “You can’t deny the photographs. How was this allowed despite adequate police deployment?”

The High Court has banned any such victory processions by student unions following their victory. It further said it was issuing show-cause notices to 140 candidates and student organisations over collective damages.

“This is happening year after year, nothing has changed. A student slapping a teacher after winning — who can think of this? Victory should make you humble,” the court said.

The student organisations have been directed by the High Court to file their replies within two weeks, stating why damages should not be imposed on them in connection with the DUSU election violence.
