GATE 2027: The deadline for regular registration for the GATE 2027 exam, held by IIT Madras, is set to expire on September 27, 2026. Students missing out on the deadline can register during the extended window available till October 5, 2026; however, a penalty of Rs. 500 per paper will be applicable in addition to the fee structure. Since the process of authentication for Indian students is through the GOAPS portal on gate2027.iitm.ac.in, a number of candidates face problems due to technical issues. In order to solve this problem, rules of the portal have been changed by IIT Madras, and now, it has become possible for students to register without any problem even if the DigiLocker account is not verified.
Document verification will take place during post-deadline scrutiny and physically at the test centers. In case of any problems related to access and fetching of files, candidates must make sure that the validity period for consent from DigiLocker account is three years. Documents should be uploaded in a folder called "GATE2027" in DigiLocker account, but General, OBC-NCL, and EWS category candidates do not need to upload their category documents.

Steps to Fix The GATE 2027 Common DigiLocker & GOAPS Errors
Below are the steps to fix the Common DigiLocker & GOAPS errors:

Login to DigiLocker independently via its mobile app or website, making sure that your main mobile number is completely verified by Aadhaar before linking to the GOAPS registration portal.
login to DigiLocker via GOAPS, make sure that you select the profile that has the blue verification mark on it for your authentic credentials to be seamlessly transferred to the GATE application portal.
When allowing GOAPS to download your uploaded files from DigiLocker, set the consent period to be no less than three years to avoid any systematic denial or timeouts for retrieving the documents in authentication.
Create a specific folder called GATE2027 in DigiLocker and upload the necessary certificates of SC/ST/PwD in it; candidates of category General/EWS/OBC-NCL need not upload any file in the folder.
In case of GOAPS marking your email as already registered, go to your DigiLocker settings to change your registered email to a new one, save the settings and login again to GOAPS.
Conduct the compulsory live face authentication using the device having high resolution camera while standing in a well-lit environment.
