GATE Statistical Report 2026: The Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati (IIT Guwahati) has recently published the complete GATE 2026 Statistical and Performance Report in their official exam website, gate2026.iitg.ac.in. This report contains the statistical information related to participation and performance trends of candidates in all the 30 test papers conducted throughout India. With a total number of 10,11,719 registered candidates, 7,97,434 appeared for the examination resulting in a qualification percentage of around 19.6% in total with 1,56,318 qualified candidates. CS & IT had the most participation with 2,11,020 test-takers out of 2,59,922 registered candidates.
The report contains detailed analysis of the qualifying percentage and cutoffs on a branch-wise and category-wise basis, with qualifying cutoff marks varying from a minimum of 25.0 marks in branches like Aerospace Engineering, Chemical Engineering and Chemistry to a maximum of 40.0 marks in Metallurgical Engineering, Ecology and Evolution, and Architecture and Planning. In addition, there is an achievement report of some of the top scorers in various disciplines including Rahul Nehra with 96.67 marks in mechanical engineering and Gaurav Kumar with 95.67 marks in Electronics and communication engineering.
GATE 2026 Statistical Report
The statistical report of the GATE is compiled by the organising institution, which changes each year between IISc and IITs. This report acts as an authority report for the applicants, educational institutions, and Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs). For the GATE 2026 examination, 10,11,719 applicants applied, while 797434 appeared for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering. GATE Statistical Report: Key Highlights
The components of the GATE statistical report are as follows:

GATE Qualification percentage: Numbers and percentage of qualified candidates category-wise and paper-wise
Score Distribution: Raw score of GATE out of 100 and normalised score of GATE out of 1000.
GATE Qualification Cut-off: Normalised cut-off marks for General, SC/ST/PwD, OBC-NCL/EWS
Top Percentile: Mean score of top 0.1% candidates and standard deviation values
