IIT Jammu held its 7th convocation to award degrees to the academic batch of 2026. A total of 420 degrees were given across undergraduate postgraduate and doctoral programmes. The degrees included 209 BTech,124 MTech, 23 MSc and 64 PhD. The ceremony also recognised students for outstanding academic performance across various programmes and departments. IIT Jammu Convocation 2026 Gold Medal Winners
Shankar M. Venugopal Vice President Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd, Mahindra Research Valley presided over the ceremony as chief guest, Amitabh Ranjan Vice Chairman pan IIT alumni India attended the event as guest of honour, Four students received gold medals for their academic records.
Vivek Kumar Shandilya from the Department of Materials and Metallurgical Engineering received the President’s Gold Medal for the highest CGPA among BTech graduates. Ayush Raj from the Department of Chemical Engineering received the Director’s Gold Medal for his best overall performance.
Mohammad Shamsul Haq from the MTech Civil Engineering programme received the Institute Gold Medal for the highest CGPA among MTech graduates. Sheikh Aabid Nisar from MSc Chemistry received the Institute Gold Medal for the highest CGPA among MSc graduates.
IIT Jammu Silver Medal Winners
The institute also conferred silver medals on students who obtained the highest CGPA in their respective branches. Ten students were honoured in this list across engineering science and postgraduate streams.Ayush Raj from Chemical Engineering received a silver medal and Khushboo from Civil Engineering was also honoured. Chaitanya Tandon from Computer Science and Engineering received a silver medal. Nageshwar Kumar from Electrical Engineering and Harshit Beri from Mechanical Engineering were also awarded.
In the postgraduate programmes Shivangi Sharma from MTech Chemical Engineering received a silver medal and Anshu Kumari from MTech Computer Science and Engineering was also awarded. Sandeep Kumar from MTech Electrical Engineering and Binod Kumar from MTech Mechanical Engineering received silver medals. Akshita from MSc Physics was also honoured.
