New Uniform Announced for CBSE Schools in Himachal Pradesh

Himachal Pradesh has finalized a fresh look for its CBSE schools. Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu announced the decision at an official meeting of the education department on Thursday. The state will now follow a fixed dress code for students and teachers. School buildings will get a common colour theme across the state. The Chief Minister informed people about the update through an official post on X. He said the government wants quality education for children closer to their homes. The move is aimed at giving every school a clean and unified identity. Such steps also aim to bring government schools on par with private institutions in the state. Scroll to get more details.

Green Uniforms and Teachers Dress Code

Students of CBSE schools in Himachal will wear a distinct uniform based on a green colour scheme. Female teachers will wear a light lilac purple dress. Male teachers will wear light blue trousers and a shirt. The dress code for teachers will be neat and formal and modest and professional. Accessories will be kept to a minimum so the focus stays on teaching. Teachers must also wear their identity cards while on duty so everyone can recognise staff easily. The buildings of these schools will be painted in olive green and sand beige shades to give campuses a uniform look. MLA Suresh Kumar and Chandra Skehar and Neerja Nayyar attended the meeting. Vijay Pal Singh of the Himachal Pradesh Private Educational Institutions Regulatory Commission was also present along with senior officials.

Funds for Schools and HPUTWA Protest

The state government has released Rs 80 crore to improve facilities and necessary infrastructure in CBSE schools. This money will help strengthen arrangements for students and teachers. An additional Rs 5 crore will also be released for these schools. The Chief Minister said this amount will improve the educational environment and ensure quality education at the doorstep of children. The government believes good facilities close to home will encourage more families to trust state schools.

Meanwhile the Himachal Pradesh University teachers welfare association known as HPUTWA staged a protest against the Himachal Pradesh Universities Amendment Bill 2026. The association raised concerns over university autonomy and academic freedom and institutional functioning. The protest shows that teachers want a say in decisions that shape higher education in the state. The state now hopes these changes will create a positive and motivating learning space for every student.
