Odisha School Holiday: The government of Odisha state and the district administration has issued instructions on the immediate closing of all public and private schools along with Anganwadi centres in the southern and coastal districts of the state. Based on red and orange alerts issued by India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicting the continuation of heavy to extremely heavy rains, the district administration has decided to focus more on the safety of students.
Districts like Malkangiri, Koraput, Ganjam, Khurda, and Gajapati have closed all the educational institutes till 24 September. In addition to the safety of students in urban waterlogging and flash floods, the district collectors have instructed that the infrastructure of schools must be available to provide temporary relief to the displaced individuals in low-lying coastal districts.
For the purpose of facilitating local administration, there are strict orders issued by the state government that strictly prohibit the movement of teachers and administrative staff out of their designated postings.

Emergency Directives Issued for Teachers & Staff
These instructions make it clear that although students are absolved of their duty to attend classes, teaching and administrative staff members are bound by strict emergency guidelines:

Mandatory Reporting & Roster Responsibilities: Principals, headmasters, and teachers are supposed to report to their respective institutions as usual. The school head is responsible for maintaining 24-hour rosters so that schools may remain accessible for any emergencies or flood relief work, if required.
Station Prohibitions: The district authorities in areas such as Koraput, Kalahandi, and Ganjam have strictly restricted teachers and administrative officials from leaving their station till September 25.
Leave Prohibitions: Leaves of all essential government and education staff in southern districts have been temporarily revoked.
