Many important changes have been made in XAT 2016. It is very important to take a look on all crucial changes made during this year in XAT. Now participants are required to prepare themselves as per new changes.
The total number of questions has been brought down to 78 in the question paper and allotted time has been increased by 20 minutes. Now the candidates would have 170 minutes to answer the questions.
The difficulty level of the questions has been brought down in order to enable students to attempt as many questions as possible and encourage them to demonstrate versatile skills. In compare to previous year XAT-2016 has been designed in very different manner to eradicating all previous years’ loose points. Now updated pattern would avoid errors of low range of scores and errors of excellent students not getting enough opportunities to showcase their ability due to much easy question paper.
In XAT 2016, one major change is of allowing negative marking for un-attempted questions. Now students have a choice of not attempting 13 questions. Beyond this, any un-attempted question will carry the negative mark of 0.05. This change will promote students for taking maximum level of risk in the examination and in real life too. There would also be negative marking of 0.25 marks for any wrong answer also.
There are some minor changes in the format of supplementary sections of GK and Essay. Time allowed for this section will be 35 minutes and the number of questions in this section will be twenty-five. There would be no penalty marking in this section for wrong answers due to very low score by the students in the previous years.
