The U.S. News and World Report has recently released the Global Universities Rankings, which is the 11th annual U.S. News and World Report for Best Global Universities Rankings. The Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore, has once again secured its position as India’s leading research institution by securing the highest rank among Indian universities in the US News and World Report’s Global Universities Rankings 2025.
The Best Global Universities Rankings only consider an institution's overall academic reputation and research, instead of its undergraduate or postgraduate programs. This ranking helps assess and compare universities worldwide as more and more students enroll in institutions or universities outside of their home country. Harvard University has once again secured its long-standing position as the world’s top-ranked university.

Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore
The Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore, was established in 1909 and is a public institution. The IISc is a science and engineering-focused university, which has six academic divisions, namely, Chemical Sciences, Biological Sciences, Electrical Sciences, Mechanical Sciences, Physical and Mathematical Sciences and Interdisciplinary Research, each of which has several departments under it. Both native and foreign students pay the same tuition. Every university student receives a stipend that partially or completely covers their living expenses and tuition.
