The Ministry of Human Resources Department formed the National Institute of Ranking Frameworks to rank institutes across India on various parameters. NIRF rankings are based on five parameters: teaching, learning, resources, Graduation Outcome, Outreach and Inclusion, Research and Professional Practice, and Perception.
Each of these criteria assigns a score out of 100 to these institutions. Every criterion carries a certain weight, and institutions are assessed based on a total score of 500. Some of the best universities in India in 2024, as per the NIRF Rankings of 2024, are: Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, Jawaharlal Nehru University, Jamia Millia Islamia, Banaras Hindu University, University of Delhi, etc.
Students who wish to study in these universities can seek admission through national-level entrance examinations or the university's specific examinations.
